Are Yeadon Domes Safe?
Are Yeadon Domes Safe?
First and foremost, our condolences go out to those injured during the collapse of a fabric-framed structure that covered the Dallas Cowboys training field on Saturday, May 2, 2009. However, when considering the safety of Yeadon® Domes, it is important to note that the particular structures used in Minneapolis and Dallas were steel frame fabric and fiberglass buildings.
Yeadon® Domes does not manufacture steel frame fabric buildings. Our buildings are supported entirely by air. It is important to note the difference between tension fabric structures supported by a steel frame and air-supported structures — they are not the same.
At Yeadon® Domes, we have been in business for 30 years and understand the importance of safety. All of our structures are built to comply with local building codes and wind zone requirements for each particular area where our structures are erected.
We cannot speculate on the cause of these incidents, what specifications the buildings were designed to or how they were engineered. If you have any questions regarding air-supported structures, please contact Matt Mejia at 651.633.7400.
