Yeadon® Welcomes Philadelphia’s University of Pennsylvania

YeadonTM would like to congratulate the University of Pennsylvania on their new addition of a seasonal, multi-sport YeadonTM dome in Penn Park.  The University of Pennsylvania is a member of the Ivy League Conference.  Penn Park is a sprawling recreation area located in Philadelphia that is used by UPenn students and community for everything from baseball to picnicking.

The Dunning-Cohen Champion’s Field in Penn Park will be covered by a YeadonTM dome from November to March.  The space is available for lacrosse, soccer, and football as well as other field sports.

Yeadon’sTM seasonal structure over the field is a testament to the advantages of a dome within a city.  The addition of a dome over an existing field does not require any further property acquisitions or extensive reorganizing.  YeadonTM can place a dome inside a stadium, on an elevated surface, or even on a rooftop.  With green space being limited in Philadelphia, it is important to YeadonTM to leave as much available as possible.  A seasonal air structure is the perfect solution, the dome creates a space for activities in the winter and the field is uncovered in the spring.

The University of Pennsylvania joins a list of Ivy League schools that have opted for seasonal YeadonTM domes to optimize their activity space.  Other applications include Harvard University and Boston College.

Congratulations to the University of Pennsylvania!

Yeadon Domes® Has Ontario Covered Too!

Yeadon DomesTM is happy to announce the addition of a YeadonTM Dome at the Hershey Centre in Mississauga, Ontario.  This spacious multi-sport dome covers and protects the artificial turf at the center and measures 328 feet long by 208 feet wide and stands 74 feet high.

The new YeadonTM air structure will be a seasonal fixture, allowing the Hershey Center to utilize the maximum amount of space during the snowy winter months.  With an average snowfall of 115 inches annually, indoor playing space is a must.

The dome not only creates twice the space for the Hershey center, it also doubles their rental revenue with the space.  Covering the turf field will help maximize its life by protecting it from the elements.  For the summer months, the YeadonTM Service Team will return to Mississauga and remove the to allow for outdoor play.

The Hershey Centre provides space for events large and small, rink sports, and field sports.  Yeadon’sTM seasonal dome will promote increased community involvement for both youth and adult leagues creating a space for uninterrupted playtime.

YeadonTM is glad to have assisted the Hershey Centre in creating such a great space for athletics.  Congratulations Hershey Centre!

The University of Minnesota Gets a Yeadon® Dome Just in Time For Winter

The University of Minnesota is one of Yeadon’sTM newest premier projects. The seasonal dome provides a heated environment for students during the cold Minnesota winters.   Yeadon’sTM snow sensor technology detects snow on the structure and automatically raises the temperature to melt and shed snow. The dome stands 75’ tall and is not only a great practice venue for students, but also an excellent recruiting tool for future students.

Opened in January of 2012, the U of M Student Recreational Sports Dome offers soccer, lacrosse, sports camps, walking, Frisbee, softball, football, as well as many other activities. The space is open to intramural sports, U of M students, and the greater community. The UMN Dome is part of the University’s ever increasing commitment to health and wellness. This seasonal dome offers an expanded playing season for all sports and increases revenue for the school so that other new projects may also occur.

The dome features a permanent building connection with restrooms and viewing windows as well as an airlock for vehicles, goals or other large items. The inside is bright and spacious allowing in some natural light to offset the suspended lights. YeadonTM also provided custom U of M maroon inner liner giving the dome an added aesthetic and of course, Gopher pride.

When the warmer weather comes back, YeadonTM Field Techs will return and the dome will be deflated and stored so the new artificial turf field can be used for outdoor sports.

We here at YeadonTM are proud and excited to have such a beautiful new structure so close. Congratulations to the U of M!

Yeadon® Has the University of Cincinnati Covered

The Big East’s University of Cincinnati faced a space dilemma recently which had created a problem.  They were one of the only Big East schools lacking an indoor sports venue forcing players to brave the elements and practice outdoors in the winter.  YeadonTM had a solution for this problem, a seasonal dome covering the 100-yard field at the Sheakley Athletics Center.

Yeadon’sTM  seasonal structure at UC is ideal for lacrosse, soccer, baseball, track and field, and of course, the UC Bearcats football team.  The heated dome provides over 70,000 square feet of uninterrupted playing area, a welcome addition to the cramped Cincinnati campus.  The YeadonTM dome offers an indoor practice area as well as space for sports camps and enhances UC’s recruiting efforts.

This year, the Bearcats football team finished with an impressive winning record of 10 wins and only 3 losses.  They were named most improved team in the NCAA Division 1 FBS conference and sent 3 players to the NFL’s Combine.

While the excellent players and coaching staff are the driving force behind this transformation, we would venture to say practicing in the warmth of a YeadonTM dome assisted the Bearcats in their successful season.

Congratulations Bearcats and good luck in the upcoming season!

The Houston Texans Make the Playoffs and It Doesn’t Stop There

Congratulations to the AFC’s Houston Texans who made it to the playoffs for the first time in team history this year. While the Texans lost to the Ravens in round 2 of the playoffs, the game was a milestone for the team, who lost their quarterback to injury and was pegged as an underdog.

And in a state where football is king, supplying three Probowl attendees plus the AFC Probowl coaching staff is something to be proud of. The Texans sent cornerback Johnathan Joseph, center Chris Myers and defensive end Antonio Smith along with coach Gary Kublak and staff to Honolulu, Hawaii for the annual Probowl game. The AFC won the game 59-41 under coach Kublak.

Houston is already looking forward to next season with high hopes, vowing to be an AFC Championship and Superbowl team in 2012. After a well-deserved break, the Texans will be back at Methodist Training Center practicing up for what promises to be great season next year.

YeadonTM is the proud partner of the Texans and their permanent practice dome, the Methodist Training Center, located in Reliant Park.

The Texans’ dome is insulated with Yeadon’sTM R-Plus fiberglass insulation system. This exclusive R-Plus system provides both economical and efficient heating and air-conditioning to the team depending on the time of year. YeadonTM offers its R-Plus insulated structures for permanent installations.  R-Plus structures are available up to R-14. The YeadonTM year-round dome provides an excellent advantage to the Texans and allows practice in rain, shine, heat and snow. Another advantage Houston has over other teams in the NFL is the ability to practice indoors on a full size field complete with field goals and camera towers. We at YeadonTM are proud to have supplied the dome and the competitive advantage to such a tremendous team.

Congratulations and good luck next season to the Houston Texans!
